Most of our readers in Pennsylvania are probably used to seeing the aftermath of car accidents on the side of the road, particularly around rush hour. After all, "fender benders" are fairly common. However, the sad reality is that deadly, multi-vehicle crashes are not all that uncommon either. One such recent accident resulted in the death of a school bus driver.
A recent report states that on September 18, around 3:40pm, a multi-vehicle crash occurred in nearby Rayne. Apparently, a vehicle was stopped to make a turn when a pickup truck slammed into the stopped vehicle. The pickup truck then careened into oncoming traffic in the other lane, smashing almost head-on into the school bus. Fortunately, there were no children aboard the school bus at the time of the crash.
However, the driver of the school bus was killed in the collision. The 34-year-old woman was pulled from the school bus, but died soon thereafter. No one else was seriously injured in the crash.
At the time of the recent report, there were no early indications as to what caused this multi-vehicle crash. But, from the details that were made available by law enforcement officials who were on the scene to investigate, it is obvious that the pickup truck probably shouldn't have slammed into the other vehicle if the driver of the pickup truck was paying attention to what was happening on the road. Although a full accident investigation is likely ongoing, this could be an instance of distracted driving, or other dangerous factors, causing a fatal accident on the roads in Pennsylvania.
